I just saw this on thirdday.com…
“Third Day and Brad Avery have Made the Very Difficult Decision to Part Ways
We appreciate Brad’s many contributions to the band’s career to date, including his work on our forthcoming album, but the time has come for us to follow our separate paths.
He has been an important part of Third Day for the last 13 years as we’ve traveled the world together and performed over 1,000 concerts. We will miss him as a band member but he will always remain our brother and our friend. Brad is a wonderful person, gifted songwriter and talented musician. We trust that God has amazing plans for his future.”
While I understand that change is inevitable, I’m nevertheless stunned and saddened.
I love Third Day.
Seen them several times. When are auditions?
yeah, auditions! woot! At least the cowboy hat bassist is still with ’em and Mac … I guess I not like their BIGGEST fan. I would know more names than the lead singers first (nick)name huh?
Sorry to hear of your loss.
Thanks for coming out and weathering the 1 and 1/2 hours of other poetry just to hear me.

Bad- do you think this summer sometime we could come visit your home church? we are home today, and thinking it would be great to pop in on you all in MD. Thinking of you and lifting a prayer for you and you family.
CooleRic- 😆
Absolutely. Our house is always open for visitors and sojourners. The Home Church isn’t terribly organized, but we could certainly fellowship together. You could also plan on staying with us if you wanted to do any touring of DC, Baltimore, or Annapolis (or wherever). (and you might get a chance to see Ric in action!)
CooleRic:
Mac – lead singer, guitar
Mark – lead guitar, backup vocals
Tai – Bass
David – Drums
??? – Keyboard (just on tours and in the studio – not credited)
Scotty – Keyboard
thx!
i myself could not belive it ..i still dont in many ways, but to me he MADE third day ,thier sound just wasnt as rockin till he came along!but as a christain i understand that God leads us to where we need to be and for that i hope we see him now more than ever!!! God bless him and third day.
I’m not convinced that Brad’s departure was simply a decision to part ways. I’m not a big conspiracy theorist, but I’ve heard nothing from Brad for several months now – which seems unusual.
I have a friend who saw Third Day in concert shortly after Brad’s departure – he was impressed that they held their own, and even rocked out. He did notice a difference in a couple songs, but was altogether satisfied that they were still Third Day.
But, Brad was the one who taught them to play in tune – something must have stuck.
