As I am in the midst of raising teenage daughters, and as it turns out, many of their friends are teenage girls, conversations at our house often end up on the subject of boys, dating, romance, and ultimately s…e…x….
One of the girls’ friends, has never had a male role model in her life at all – she met her father once when she was six, I think. It occured to me the other day that since she considers me an adopted Dad, there might be a time/place to have “The Talk.” Usually I let my wife handle these things – especially with kids that aren’t our own; but I would like to think that any teenage girl would benefit/needs/wants a male role model to give her advice.
So hears my question for the ladies: What do you wish someone had told you about boys/dating/sex back when you were first coming of age?
The second-part of the question is: Would you have listened? Or, what would it have taken to have gotten you to listen?
Think about it – get back to me. I’d be much obliged.
